Intergenerational Connections

A little update from our final group of the school year. In the weeks leading up to the school holidays we ran a group with year 6 children and residents living at Mill Lane Care Home. This time our theme was WW2 and the Battle of Britain so we reached out to the Felixstowe Museum to see if they had anything that could help add more depth to the sessions.

We had a session talking about evacuation. Some of the residents shared their experiences and the children thought about what it might be like during that time. Another session we took part in a quiz about rationing which led to memories being shared. During our last session we explored radar, how it works, links with the local area and it's role within the war. As the Battle of Britain was fought mainly in the air, we couldn't miss the opportunity to have some fun with paper aeroplanes!
